The countries that represent films made in Latin America, or what is known as "Latin American cinema," are Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, but there is also a small but strong "Third World cinema" movement in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Cuba, and Bolivia. [Mexican Movie] In 1931, a group of Soviet filmmakers led by Sergei M. Eisenstein stayed in Mexico for about a year to document the state of post-revolutionary Mexico. They shot the unfinished film Viva Mexico!, which is said to have inspired the development of Mexican cinema. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
