Ageo Pass

...Because of the scarcity of arable land, timber, chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, tobacco, etc. are cultivated. Pottery stone is mined near Uebi Pass (463m), on the border with Tobe Town to the northeast, and supplies the raw material for Tobe ware in Tobe Town, as well as pottery producing areas such as Nagoya and Tajimi. Mount Gongen on the Nakano River is a mountain of faith, and is called "Western Gongen" as a smaller version of Mount Ishizuchi to the east.
