A type of plant leaf shape. Leaflets are arranged on either side of the leaf axis like a bird's wings. There are compounds with one leaflet at the end of the leaf axis (odd-pinnate compound leaves) such as wisteria and roses, and compounds with one leaflet at the end of the leaf axis (even-pinnate compound leaves) such as honey locust and mimosa pudica.
