Konoe Taneie

Japanese:
Konoe Taneie
Year of death: July 10, 1566 (July 26, 1566)
Year of birth: 1502
A nobleman from the Warring States period. His father was Konoe Hisamichi. His mother was Tokudaiji Sanezumi's daughter, Ieko. After being promoted to Junior Third Rank in 1514, he served as Minister of the Right and twice as Kanpaku. His younger sister, Keijuin, was married to Ashikaga Yoshiharu, and so he had deep ties with the shogunate. In 1553, when Miyoshi Nagayoshi entered Kyoto and Ashikaga Yoshiteru was driven out of Kyoto, he followed him and lived in Kutsuki, Omi. In 1558, he married his daughter to Yoshiteru. From the Tenbun period onwards, he was also known to have had relations with the Shimazu clan of Satsuma, and in the Shimazu Family Documents, there is a description that Taneie added colophons to Shimazu Tadayoshi's Iroha poems, and arranged for Shimazu Tadayoshi's son Takahisa and others to receive government positions. He was initiated into the Kokinshu by his father Hisamichi, and studied the Tale of Genji. His waka and renga compositions also remain. His one-character name is "ume" (plum). His pen name is Keiun-in Kakuten Daien. There is also a theory that he was born in Bunki 3 (1503).
