Naozumi Iwamatsu

Japanese:
Naozumi Iwamatsu
Years of birth: Years of birth and death unknown. A military commander in the Warring States period. Lord of Nitta Manor in Kozuke Province (Gunma Prefecture). Grandson of Iezumi, son of Akizumi. In 1494, he inherited the family headship upon the death of his grandfather Iezumi, but in the following year, he lost in a battle with Yokose Kunishige and his son Narishige, the chief retainers, and handed the family headship over to his son Masazumi and retired. As his mother was the daughter of Ninagawa Chikado, who served as the acting governor of the Muromachi Shogunate and was a master of renga, he was well versed in waka and renga, but he further perfected this path during his life in seclusion. In 1509, he performed renga with Socho, who came to Kanto, and was also involved in annotating waka and teaching renga. His writings, "Renga Kaisekishiki," contain information on what to keep in mind when attending a renga gathering.
