Gobelin (legend) (English spelling) Gobelin

...An ugly, dwarf-like sprite. Said to live in forests and caves, it is synonymous with the German kobold and the French Gobelin. It likes children and horses, and is believed to comb their manes and kidnap bad children. In the past, nurses would tell their children to go to bed by saying, "The goblin is coming to eat you."
