Counting Song - Counting Song

Japanese:
Counting Song - Counting Song
A type of folk song sung in numerical order starting from 1. It can be found in primitive forms such as requiems and four-line sacred songs from ancient times, as well as in hayashi dances from the Muromachi period. It is also used in auspicious songs such as the Banzai pillar-setting song, which can be said to be in the same vein as the ancient "treasure counting" and "...tsukushi." Well-known shamisen songs include "Matsutsukushi" and "Shamisen Kaesuuta," folk songs include "Tsugaru Yasaburo-bushi," and hayashi dances include "Daikokumai." It is most commonly used in street vendor songs and temari songs, and is also used as a children's play song for counting numbers.
