Felling trees is the process of felling them, removing the branches, and sawing them into logs of a set length depending on the purpose. Felling is done with a chainsaw, but sometimes a handsaw is also used. When felling a tree, the first step is to make a notch with the chainsaw. A notch is a groove cut into a square shape about 30 cm above the ground on the side of the tree that is to be felled. After making the notch, the chainsaw is held horizontally and cut from the opposite side at the same height as the top edge of the notch.
