Fuke Shakuhachi

〘Noun〙① A type of shakuhachi. In contrast to the gagaku shakuhachi (ancient shakuhachi) and hitoyogiri shakuhachi, this is the type that is commonly referred to as shakuhachi today. →Shakuhachi①(Ha). ② Shakuhachi music played by komuso priests of the Fuke sect. Originally, these were religious pieces, but later artistic pieces were also played. They are also called "classical honkyoku." 〘名〙① 尺八の一種。雅楽尺八（古代尺八）・一節切(ひとよぎり)尺八に対して、今日普通に尺八といわれる種類のもの。→尺八①(ハ)。② 普化宗の虚無僧が吹く尺八曲のこと。元来は宗教的な曲であったが、のちには芸術的な曲も吹かれた。「古典本曲」ともいわれる。
