Fuke Shakuhachi

Fuke Shakuhachi
〘Noun〙① A type of shakuhachi. In contrast to the gagaku shakuhachi (ancient shakuhachi) and hitoyogiri shakuhachi, this is the type that is commonly referred to as shakuhachi today. →Shakuhachi①(Ha). ② Shakuhachi music played by komuso priests of the Fuke sect. Originally, these were religious pieces, but later artistic pieces were also played. They are also called "classical honkyoku."
