1859‐1930 American historian of mathematics. Born in Switzerland, he moved to the United States with his brother at the age of 16 and studied mathematics at the University of Wisconsin and Johns Hopkins University. He served as professor of physics at Colorado College from 1889 and mathematics from 1898, and in 1918 was invited to become professor of the history of mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. Cajoli's name is well known today because of his many writings as a historian of mathematics.
