A playhouse in Osaka that performed Karakuri puppets. It was founded in 1662 (Kanbun 2) by the first Takeda Omi in Dotonbori, Osaka, and continued to exist until 1768 (Meiwa 5). It was originally located in Tachikeicho, east of the south end of Dotonbori Tazaemonbashi Bridge, but was moved to the neighboring east in 1733 (Kyoho 18) after a fire, and then moved to the Oka side of Dotonbori in 1763 (Horeki 13), and the playhouse itself continued to exist until the Meiji era. The main attraction was Karakuri puppets, floats, and tools that moved naturally using mechanisms such as machines, water, and strings, and kyōgen performed by women, children's plays, and dancing were added to add variety, drawing audiences as a specialty of Dotonbori, Osaka.
