He was the prime minister of the Majapahit Kingdom, which reigned mainly in eastern Java, Indonesia from the 13th to the 15th centuries. During the reign of the second king, Jayanagara, civil war broke out and the dynasty was temporarily in crisis, but the situation was resolved thanks to the efforts of Gajah Mada, the chief of the royal guard. He was gradually promoted, and after Jayanagara's death (1328), he served three kings in total, including Jayanagara's half-sister Tribhuvana and her son Rajasanagara (also known as Hayam Wuruk), and in 1330 he was appointed mapati (prime minister), a position he held for 34 years.

インドネシア，東部ジャワを中心に13～15世紀に君臨したマジャパイト王国最盛期の宰相。この国第2代の王ジャヤナガラの時代に内乱が起こり，王朝は一時危機に陥ったが，親衛隊長ガジャ･マダの活躍によって事態は収拾された。その後，彼は次第に昇進し，ジャヤナガラの死(1328)後，その異母妹トリブーバナ，さらにその子ラージャサナガラ(別名ハヤム･ウルク)の都合3代の王に仕え，1330年にはマパティ(宰相)に就任し，実に34年間その職にあった。
