Acetylene Black

Abbreviation: AB. A type of carbon black. It is produced by the calcium carbide method, or by continuous thermal decomposition of acetylene with a purity of over 99% that is decomposed and refined from by-product gas during naphtha cracking. Primary particles are formed by stacking and assembling 2-3 nm aromatic planar molecules, and the primary particles are linked together like beads to form secondary particles with a chain structure of carbon black. Due to the developed chain structure, it has better electrical conductivity and liquid absorption than other carbon blacks and is lighter in specific gravity. Applications include rubber reinforcing agents, pigments, battery conductive materials, and electrode additives. [CAS 1333-86-4]

略称AB．カーボンブラックの一種．カルシウムカーバイド法，あるいはナフサクラッキングの際の副生ガスから分解精製された純度99％ 以上のアセチレンの連続熱分解法で製造する．2～3 nm の芳香族平面分子が積層集合して一次粒子を形成し，一次粒子が数珠状につながったストラクチャーとよばれるカーボンブラックの鎖状構造の二次粒子を形成している．鎖状構造が発達しているため，ほかのカーボンブラックよりも導電性や吸液性がすぐれ比重が軽い．用途は，ゴム用補強剤，顔料，電池用導電材，電極添加剤などである．[CAS 1333-86-4]
