Abbreviation: AB. A type of carbon black. It is produced by the calcium carbide method, or by continuous thermal decomposition of acetylene with a purity of over 99% that is decomposed and refined from by-product gas during naphtha cracking. Primary particles are formed by stacking and assembling 2-3 nm aromatic planar molecules, and the primary particles are linked together like beads to form secondary particles with a chain structure of carbon black. Due to the developed chain structure, it has better electrical conductivity and liquid absorption than other carbon blacks and is lighter in specific gravity. Applications include rubber reinforcing agents, pigments, battery conductive materials, and electrode additives.
