An ancient fortified town built by the Mandupians on the mountain of Mont-Auxois. It is now Alize-Sainte-Laine in the Côte d'Or department in France. In 62 BC Julius Caesar besieged Vercingetorix here, forcing him to surrender and deciding the course of the conquest of Gaul. It later became a Roman town, but fell into decline in the 3rd century.
