Takamoto Mori

Japanese:
Takamoto Mori
Year of death: August 4, 1563 (August 22, 1563)
Year of birth: 1523
A military commander in the Sengoku period. His father was Motonari, and his mother was the daughter of Yoshikawa Kunitsune. He was known as Shoyu Taro, Bitchu no Kami, and Daizen no Daifu. He spent several years as a hostage in Yamaguchi as a boy, and was given one character of his given name by Ouchi Yoshitaka, and was called Takamoto. Even after he inherited the family headship, he continued to be under his father's guardianship, and with the cooperation of his younger brothers, Yoshikawa Motoharu and Kobayakawa Takakage, he led the battles against the Sue, Amago, and Otomo clans. He controlled the western half of the Chugoku region, and was also appointed as the shugo of Aki, Bingo, Bitchu, Suo, and Nagato, but died suddenly in Sasabe, Aki Province (Takamiya Town, Hiroshima Prefecture) in 1563. He was a humble person, unusual for a Sengoku daimyo, and lamented that the son of a great commander would be born unlucky, and Motonari, who lived in a turbulent time, loved his son Takamoto despite his concerns. <References> "The Story of Lord Mori Motonari" compiled by the Sankyoden Compilation Office
