Central Hospital - Chung-ch'uwǒn (English spelling)
An official agency in Korea, from the Goryeo to the Joseon Dynasty (Yi Dynasty), during the colonial period. Founded in the 10th year of the reign of Seongjong of Goryeo (991), it was renamed Mitjiksi after King Chungnyeol and was a key national agency that handled royal accounts and military affairs. At the beginning of the Joseon Dynasty, under the government system established in the 4th year of Shinchang (1392), Jungjongwon was the highest official position that held both political and military power. However, military power was eventually transferred to the Uiheung Samgunbu, and in the 2nd year of the reign of Jeongjong (1400), political power was transferred to Seongjeongwon, and Jungjongwon disappeared. In the 9th year of the reign of Taejong (09), the name Jungjongwon was revived, and in the 12th year of the reign of Sejo (67), it was renamed Jungjongwon and continued to exist as an agency that gave preferential treatment to Munmudang senior officials who did not have practical duties. In the 31st year of the reign of Gojong (1894), it was renamed Jungjongwon again and became an affiliated agency of Uijeongbu. After 1910, the Central Council was no longer a political institution, but rather an advisory body to the Government-General, whose main activities were to investigate old customs and systems and to publish various historical materials.
