...Field athletics is a Japanese-English word that combines field (outdoors) and athletics (exercise), and was registered as a trademark by the Japan Field Athletics Association (a voluntary organization established in 1973). The method of going around a course by repeating walking, running and exercise originated in Northern Europe, and in 1968 VITA-Parcours (donated by Vita Life Insurance Company) was established in Zurich, Switzerland.
