Recovery room

Japanese: 回復室 - かいふくしつ（英語表記）recovery room

Immediately after surgery, patients do not fully wake up from anesthesia and their respiratory and circulatory states are unstable, so there is a period when they require careful monitoring before returning to the general ward. A facility attached to an operating room that accommodates and intensively manages patients immediately after surgery is called a recovery room. It is called a recovery room because it accommodates patients who are recovering from anesthesia. Recovery rooms are usually managed and operated by an anesthesiologist, and nurses and technicians who are accustomed to managing patients immediately after surgery are assigned to the room. Various monitoring devices are installed, and respiratory, circulatory, and central nervous function are measured and recorded at regular intervals.

手術直後の患者は麻酔からの覚醒が不十分であり，呼吸･循環状態が不安定であるため，一般病棟に戻る前に注意深い監視が必要な時期がある。手術室に併設され，術直後の患者を収容し，集中的に管理する施設を回復室と呼ぶ。麻酔からの回復期にある患者を収容するので回復室と呼ばれている。回復室は通常，麻酔科医が管理運営し，術直後患者の管理になれた看護婦，技能員を配置する。各種監視装置を設置し，呼吸，循環，中枢神経機能を一定間隔で測定記録する。
