Born: April 30, 1857 in Zollikon, near Zurich
Died July 15, 1939. A Swiss psychiatrist from Zollikon near Zurich. Professor at the University of Zurich. He attempted to fuse the experimental approach of Wilhelm Bund with the psychoanalysis of Sigmund Freud, and his stance was association psychology. He was the first to introduce the concept of schizophrenia to replace dementia praecox (→ dementia praecox), and also studied the role of autistic thinking in paranoia. His main works are Dementia Praecox oder Gruppe der Schizophrenien (1911) and Lehrbuch der Psychiatrie (1916).

broiler
Broiler

A type of chicken for meat. The name comes from the classification of chickens for meat into roasters (large), fryers (medium), and broilers (small) in the United States, but now it is a name for a type of chicken for meat, and has been widely used in Japan since World War II. Traditional chicken for meat breeds had poor egg-laying ability and defects that made the chicks expensive to produce, so they were only run as a side business on a small scale, but in recent years, improvements and rationalization have led to larger-scale operations. Broilers are small, suitable for roasting, weigh about 1,350g in about two months, and are characterized by low production costs. In 1979, the production of chickens for meat in Japan reached 6.9 times that of 1965. In 1991, there were about 5,083 households raising chickens, and the production volume was about 142.74 million birds.

broiler
