Born: March 14, 1709, Grenoble
Died April 23, 1785. French historian and philosopher. Also spelled Mabry. His brother was the philosopher É. Condillac. After studying theology at the Jesuits in Lyon and at the Saint-Sulpice Seminary in Paris, he was recognized by Cardinal Cousin and engaged in diplomatic missions. However, a rift soon arose between them, leading him to retire and devote himself to research. His works include Doutes proposés aux philosophes économistes (1768), which attacks the despotism and laissez-faire of the Physiocrats and argues that common property and equality are the natural order, and Traité de la législation ou principe des lois (76), which develops this idea further and systematically explains the theory of communism.

フランスの歴史家，哲学者。マブリとも表記される。弟は哲学者 É.コンディヤック。リヨンのイエズス会に，次いでパリのサンシュルピス神学校で神学を研究したのち，クサン枢機卿に認められ外交任務に従事。しかしやがて両者間に不和が生じて引退し，研究に没頭した。著作には，重農学派の専制主義と自由放任とを攻撃し，共同財産および平等こそ自然的秩序であると説く『経済学者への疑問』 Doutes proposés aux philosophes économistes (1768) と，この思想をさらに展開して共産主義理論を系統的に説いた『立法論－法の原理』 Traité de la législation ou principe des lois (76) などがある。
