Toazuki - Toazuki (English spelling) jequirity

Japanese: トウアズキ - とうあずき（英語表記）jequirity

A climbing woody plant of the legume family (illustration). Its brilliant red beans are used for necklaces and other items. Its English names are black-eye susan, Indian licorice, and rosary pea. It grows into a small climbing tree, reaching a height of 3-5m. The leaves are odd-pinnate compound, about 10cm long, with 7-15 pairs of elliptical leaflets. Pale purple flowers grow densely in racemes at the ends of short axillary branches. The flowers are butterfly-shaped and about 1cm long. The fruit is a legume about 3cm long, containing 3-6 red seeds.

マメ科のつる性木本（イラスト）。輝くような紅色の豆がネックレスなどに用いられる。英名はblack‐eye susan,Indian licorice,rosary pea。つる性の小高木になり，高さ3～5m。葉は奇数羽状複葉で，長さ10cmほど，楕円形の小葉は7～15対ある。腋生（えきせい）する短い枝の先端の総状花序に密集して，淡紫色の花をつける。花は長さ1cmあまりの蝶形花。果実は長さ3cmほどの豆果で，紅色の種子を3～6個いれる。
