〘Noun〙 (also "kedai") ① A Buddhist term. A state of mind in which one has no enthusiasm for practicing good and is willing to do evil. It is used in contrast to shojin. ※Shinnyokan (first in the Kamakura period) "Even if one has broken the precepts and is shameless, if one does not show any sign of laziness (kedai) " [Seijikiron - 6] ② To be lazy. To be neglectful. Sloth. Negligence. Kaitai. ※Shoku Nihongi - Tenpyo 7th year (735), June 10th " It is indeed an order to add and repair the work of the three temples, and if there is any laziness and one who agrees to do something , then he will be treated as if he had done so before." ③ ⇒ ketai (negligence)
