Face Push - Ganshisui

Japanese:
Face Push - Ganshisui

A scholar from the late Northern and Southern Dynasties period in China. His courtesy name was Kai. He was from Langya (Shandong Province). He is known as the author of the two volumes and 20 chapters of "The Yan Family Instructions." He first served under King Yi of Xiangdong of the Liang Dynasty (Emperor Yuan, reigned 551-554) as a cavalry officer, but then defected to the Northern Qi Dynasty, where he became a secretary and a yellow gate officer under Emperor Wenxuan (reigned 550-559), and was highly trusted by the emperor. After the fall of the Northern Qi Dynasty, he served the Northern Zhou Dynasty as a royal historian, and was later summoned to the Sui Dynasty as a scholar to the prince. He served many dynasties, spanning the northern and southern powers of the Liang, Northern Qi, Northern Zhou, and Sui dynasties, but he was an honest man and highly learned, and was trusted by the emperors of each dynasty. His book, "Yan's Family Instructions," is a set of family instructions that teach how people should live as a warning to their descendants, but it also contains sections that develop literary theory, such as the "Wenshu Pian." His biography can be found in the "Book of the Northern Qi" and "Northern History."
