A Soviet light theatre actor. He graduated from the Leningrad State University of Performing Arts in 1935 and worked at the Theatre of Labor Youth (TRAM), but his talent for pantomime and skits was recognized, and he was appointed director of the Leningrad Miniature Theatre, which was founded in 1939. The theatre company was a new genre at the time, putting together one-night programs of skits satirizing current events, and he has been active in this field ever since. With their sharp satire of reality by satirists, their exquisite acting with skillful quick changes, and their light-hearted tempo, Raikin and his theatre company are today the most popular in the Soviet Union, and they often appear on television.

ソ連邦の軽演劇俳優。1935年レニングラード舞台芸術大学を卒業し，労働青年劇場(TRAM)で俳優をしていたが，パントマイムと寸劇向きの才能が認められ，39年に創立されたレニングラード･ミニチュア劇場の指導者に就任した。時事風刺寸劇集で一晩のプログラムを組む，当時新しいジャンルの劇団であった。以来この道一筋に活動する。風刺作家の手になるからしのきいた現実風刺と達者な早変りを伴う絶妙な演技，それと軽快なテンポにより，今日ライキンおよびその劇団は，ソ連で最も人気があり，テレビ出演も多い。
