linear circuit

...an electronic circuit that amplifies or decreases a continuous analog electrical signal or changes its waveform, and within its range of capability, the output is linearly proportional to the input amplitude. For this reason, it is also called a linear circuit. In a broad sense, analog circuits include various amplifier circuits that handle large amounts of power and modulation circuits that transmit audio and video over radio waves, but generally it refers to a circuit that handles analog signals for manipulating and processing information of less than a dozen volts.
