An old town in Yamagata County, in the mid-west of Hiroshima Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with the main settlements of Yae and Mibu located near where the Eno River, Shijiwara River, and Kanmuri River join. The Chugoku Expressway passes through the town, and the Hamada Expressway branches off here. In addition to rice, tobacco and lettuce and other vegetables are cultivated. Folk performing arts such as the Hanagasa Dance and Hanataue (flower rice planting) have been passed down since then. In February 2005, it merged with Geihoku Town, Oasa Town, and Toyohira Town in Yamagata County to become Kitahiroshima Town. Area: 171.07 km2 . Population: 10,557 (2003).

Chiyoda [town]

A former town in Niihari County in central Ibaraki Prefecture. The northwestern part is mountainous, continuing on from Mount Tsukuba, and the southeastern part is a plateau. The Tsuchiura-Chiyoda Industrial Park was developed in 1966 as part of the capital region development. Residential development is progressing around Kandatsu Station on the Joban Line. In 1987, the Chiyoda-Ishioka Interchange on the Joban Expressway opened. Rice farming, fruit cultivation, and livestock farming are thriving here. In March 2005, it merged with Kasumigaura Town in Niihari County to become a city, Kasumigaura City. 48.50 km2 . Population 26,706 (2003).

Chiyoda [town]

A town in Oura County in the southeastern part of Gunma Prefecture. It is located on the north bank of the midstream Tone River, and Akaiwa, in the town's center, prospered as a river port during the Edo period. It was a farming area mainly producing rice, wheat, and silkworms, but in recent years it has also engaged in garden and flower cultivation, and dairy farming. There is an industrial park where pharmaceutical, beer, and other factories have set up shop. 21.73 km2 . Population: 11,473 (2010).

Chiyoda [town]

A former town in Kanzaki County in eastern Saga Prefecture. It occupies the Saga Plains on the west bank of the Chikugo River and is a rice paddy region. Dairy farming and vegetable cultivation are also thriving. Shell mounds from the Yayoi period are scattered here and there, and relics of the jori system can be seen. The birthplace of Shimomura Kojin is here. In March 2006, it merged with Kanzaki Town and Sefuri Village in Kanzaki County to become a city, Kanzaki City. 24.77 km2 . Population: 12,356 (2003).

茨城県中央部,新治(にいはり)郡の旧町。北西部は筑波山に続く山地,南東部は台地。首都圏整備の一環として1966年土浦・千代田工業団地を造成。常磐線神立(かんだつ)駅周辺では住宅地化が進む。1987年常磐高速自動車道千代田石岡インターチェンジ開設。稲作,果樹栽培,畜産などが盛ん。2005年3月新治郡霞ヶ浦町と合併し市制,かすみがうら市となる。48.50km2。2万6706人(2003)。

群馬県南東部,邑楽(おうら)郡の町。利根川中流の北岸に位置し,中心の赤岩は江戸時代,河港として繁栄。米麦,養蚕を主体とした農村地帯であったが,近年では,庭園樹・花木栽培,酪農なども行う。工業団地があり,医薬品,ビールなどの工場が進出している。21.73km2。1万1473人(2010)。

佐賀県東部,神埼(かんざき)郡の旧町。筑後川西岸の佐賀平野部を占め,水田地帯をなす。酪農,野菜栽培も盛ん。弥生時代の貝塚が点在し,条里制遺構がみられる。下村湖人の生家がある。2006年3月,神埼郡神埼町,脊振村と合併し市制,神埼市となる。24.77km2。1万2356人(2003)。
