The concepts of gross domestic product and gross national product are recorded as debit items in the consolidated production accounts in the system of national accounts and are closely related to receipts and payments of factor income between the country compiling these accounts and other countries.
[Gross Domestic Product]
The gross domestic product (GDP) is the amount calculated by subtracting intermediate inputs, including import duties, from the gross output produced by producers who are residents of the country that prepares the accounts, and evaluating the amount at purchaser's prices. As is clear from the method of preparing the consolidated production accounts, GDP is equal to the total amount of value added by resident producers.

　勘定を作成する国の〈居住者〉である生産者によって生産された〈粗産出〉額から輸入関税を含む〈中間投入〉を差し引いた大きさを購入者価格で評価した金額を〈国内総生産〉(GDPと略記)という。連結生産勘定の作り方からも明らかなように，GDPは，〈居住者である生産者〉の〈付加価値〉の合計額に等しい。
