Hata Genpei

Japanese: 旗源平 - はたげんぺい

It is also called the Genpei Flag Battle or the Genpei Flag Capture. It is a game played mainly in the Hokuriku region, mainly in Ishikawa Prefecture, Toyama Prefecture, and Fukui Prefecture, and is said to have been invented in the early 19th century. The toy consists of a large, medium, and small flag, a matoi (a ceremonial ornament), a board to hold them, and two dice. The flags are about 20cm high, and there are 10 small flags worth 1 point each, 5 medium flags worth 10 points each, 1 large flag worth 50 points, and 1 matoi worth 100 points.

源平旗合戦，源平旗とりなどとも呼ばれる。石川県を中心とし，富山県，福井県などおもに北陸地方にみられる遊びで，19世紀初期に創案されたものといわれる。源氏を表す〈ささりんどう〉の白旗，平家を表す〈あげはちょう〉の紅旗おのおの大，中，小の旗と纏（まとい），これらを差す盤，賽2個が遊具である。旗の高さは20cm前後で，小旗は10本で1本が1点，中旗は5本で1本が10点，大旗は1本で50点，纏は1本で100点。
