Japanese: 老農類語 - ろうのうるいご

A farming book from the mid-Edo period. Compiled by Suzan Nut'an (Don'o). Published in 1722 (Kyoho 7). The compiler, Nut'an, was a Confucian scholar and a samurai of the Tsushima domain. He went to Edo during the Kanbun era (1661-1673) and became a disciple of Kinoshita Jun'an. He later served as assistant governor of Korea and county magistrate. The book introduces the theories of various old farmers by crop, and discusses cultivation methods for fields and wooden gardens (slash-and-burn farming on Tsushima), as well as methods for preventing damage from wild animals (such as wild boars). It was distributed to ordinary farmers on Tsushima and is said to have greatly contributed to their enlightenment.

江戸時代中期の農書。陶山訥庵 (鈍翁) 編纂。享保7 (1722) 年成立。編纂者訥庵は儒者で対馬藩士。寛文年間 (1661～73) 江戸に出て，木下順庵の門弟となり，のち朝鮮支配佐役，郡奉行を歴任。内容は作物別に種々老農の説を紹介し，田畑，木庭 (こば。対馬における焼畑) の耕作法，獣害 (いのししなど) 防御法などを論じている。対馬の一般農民に配付され大いに啓蒙に資したという。
