Konagi - Konagi

An annual aquatic plant of the Pontederiaceae family (APG classification: Pontederiaceae). It has several basal leaves, and the leaf blade is lanceolate or ovate-cordate, 3-7 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, and has a long stalk. The stem is much shorter than the basal leaves, and bears one leaf and 3-7 flowers. The flowers bloom in September and October, are bluish-purple, 1.5-2 cm in diameter. It grows in rice paddies and ponds, and is native to various parts of Japan, and is widely distributed in East Asia and Southeast Asia. The stems and leaves are edible.

ミズアオイ科（APG分類：ミズアオイ科）の一年生の水生植物。根葉は数枚、葉身は披針(ひしん)形ないし卵状心形、長さ3～7センチメートル、幅1.5～3センチメートル、長柄がある。茎は根葉よりははるかに短く、1枚の葉および3～7個の花をつける。花は9、10月に開き、青紫色、径1.5～2センチメートル。水田や池沼に生え、日本各地に自生し、東アジアおよび東南アジアに広く分布する。茎や葉は食用になる。
