...The reasons for the lack of widespread newspapers include external factors such as the low literacy rate, the difficulty of transportation in a vast country, and subscription fees that are high compared to the income level. In terms of the content of newspapers, many national newspapers focus on articles from large cities (for example, a national newspaper published in Delhi, even one distributed to Varanasi, more than 700 km away, only carries information about power outages and water outages and movie guides for Delhi, and has no information about Varanasi or its surrounding areas). Among local English-language newspapers, many articles are articles that seem to be about prominent people in the region, while many of the articles in local ethnic language newspapers are translations of national English-language newspapers. However, there are a few local ethnic language newspapers, such as the Hindi daily newspaper Aage published in Varanasi, which sends correspondents not only to the place of publication but also to regional cities and rural towns, and collects detailed articles by telegram and post to meet the needs of its readers. Magazines are broadly divided into those produced by newspapers and those produced by publishers, with the latter reaching readers by home delivery and the latter by selling at street stands.
