In addition to its headquarters in Washington, the FBI has branches in 59 major cities and about 530 locations in 50 states, with nearly 10,000 special agents (including overseas). In particular, the headquarters' National Crime Information Center (established in 1967) provides information to state and local police forces in the country as a computer-based data bank.
