Birkenia

...It is thought that this round part moved up and down to suck in and release water. The cyclostomes, including those that flourished in the Silurian Period such as Jamoytius and Birkenia , are thought to be the ancestors of modern cyclostomes. They have a series of gill slits on the sides of their bodies.
