? ‐1715 Hotaki, chief of the Ghilzai Pashtun tribe in Afghanistan. He was from Kandahar under the control of the Safavid dynasty. Seeing the weakness of the dynasty, he killed the Georgian governor of Kandahar and rebelled against Hussein I. He dealt a devastating blow to the Safavid army that was trying to suppress them, and raised the morale of all the Pashtun tribes.
