Curtis (1860-1953) of the United States, and around the same time, the pressure compound impulse turbine, which converted the thermal energy of steam into velocity energy through multiple stages, was created by Auguste Rateau (1863-1930) of France in 1897 and Heinrich Zoelley (1862-1937) of Switzerland in 1903, respectively, and this paved the way for greater output. Although steam turbines do not have a large torque, they have the characteristic of being able to produce large output at high revolutions per minute, which made them ideal as prime movers for driving generators, and their progress has been in tandem with the beginning of the use of electricity and the expansion of its demand. …
