The American school of thought countered this, claiming that the American synthesis was correct and calling it Rutherfordium. Element 105 was obtained in 1967 by Khrerov and others in the Soviet Union, who also bombarded ²⁴³ Am with ²² Ne, and was later produced in the United States by a different method, and the Americans claimed the name Hahnium for it. …
