Hung Vuong (English spelling)

Japanese: フンブオン（英語表記）Hung Vuong

The title of the 18th king of Van Lang, the original state of Vietnamese mythology. According to the 15th century "Da Viet Sacred Records" and other sources, King Kinh Duong (Jingyang), a half-brother of the Chinese emperor, had a relationship with the daughter of Prince Dongting and gave birth to Lak Long Quang (Prince Dragon), who in turn had 100 eggs with the mountain-dwelling Au Co (Lady Princess), from one of which the first king, Hung Vuong, was born. Hung Vuong founded the Van Lang state as a mediator between the dual conflicts of mountains and water, and China and Vietnam, and maintained it for generations, but the 18th king, Hung Vuong, intensified these conflicts.

ベトナム神話の原初国家バンラン(文郎)の第18王の称号。15世紀の《大越史記全書》等によると，中国帝の異母弟のキンズオン(涇陽)王が洞庭君の娘と接してラクロンクアン(貉竜君)を生み，君は山性のアウコ(嫗姫)との間に100の卵を生み，その一つから初代フンブオンが出た。フンブオンは山と水，中国とベトナムという二重の対立の調停者としてバンラン国を興し，また代々維持したが，18代フンブオンがこの対立を激化させた。
