Kamimichi Hitatomi - Kamimichi no Hitatomi

Japanese:
Kamimichi Hitatomi - Kamimichi no Hitatomi
Year of death: Jingo Keiun 1.9 (767)
Year of birth: Unknown. An official from the Nara period. Born in Kamidō District, Bizen Province (Okayama City). He worked as a Chuei no Toneri (military guarding the Imperial Palace) in the capital, but in July of the first year of Tenpyō Hōji (757), he informed Fujiwara no Nakamaro that Tachibana Naramaro was planning a rebellion. For his achievements, he was awarded the rank of Junior Fourth Rank, the title of Ason, and appointed as Chuei no Shosho. At the end of that year, he was also awarded 20 cho of rice fields for his achievements. After that, he served as Mino no Kami, Uyūshi no Kami, and Bizen no Kami, and further served as a close aide to Emperor Junnin at Chugūin. It seems that he was highly valued under Nakamaro's administration. He was also appointed as Kibi kuni no miyatsuko, and later Bizen kuni no miyatsuko, in his hometown. The reason he approached Nakamaro and tried to get promoted may have been because of a sense of rivalry between the Kamimichi clan and Shimomichi no Makibi (Kibi no Makibi), who was also from the Kibi region and had already risen in the central government.
