... The seals used by the Israelites were widely circulated throughout Europe through the Bible and became famous as symbols of warding off evil spirits and as symbols of sanctuaries. In particular, the six-pointed star seal known as the Star of David is said to symbolize the seven metals with gold at the center, or the union of spirit and flesh, and is the symbol of Israel and the Jewish people. It is used as a talisman against evil spirits, just like the Japanese Kagome, but it is often confused with the Solomon's Seal.
