Oyake-so

Japanese:
Oyake-so

A manor in Ito County, Harima Province. It corresponds to the area currently covering the eastern part of Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is believed to have been established as a royal estate, but the exact date is unknown. In 1272 (Bun'ei 9), Emperor Gosagain ceded it to the Empress Jugō Taira no Muneshi, and it later became the property of Daikakuji Temple, and continued to exist as a manor owned by the Daikakuji line. Around 1297 (Einin 5), a dispute arose between Kyoto aristocrat Nakamikado Tsunetsugu and monk Chosho (surname unknown) over the ownership of the Sanshokukata of Oyake Manor, which took up about one-sixth of the area of the Sosho Manor. In 1325 (Shochu 2), Tsunetsugu donated the Sanshokukata to Shuho Myōchō, the founder of Daitokuji Temple. Regarding the Sanshokukata, there continued to be disputes between the feudal lord of Sosho, Daikakuji Temple, and the descendants of the priest Chosho, but as Myocho was from the powerful Uragami clan of Harima Province, Daitokuji Temple's ownership of the territory took root in the region. Among the Daitokuji documents are many historical materials such as drawings of Honjo, which provide information on the details of the jori tsubo-tsuke (grid layout), local regular markets such as Yokaichi, and the appearance of the sanjo mansions that were established at key transportation points.
