Earthquake off the coast of Izu Oshima - Izu Oshima Kinkai Jishin
On January 14, 1978, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake occurred about 10 kilometers west of Izu Oshima. Together with the aftershock (magnitude 5.8) that occurred the following day, it caused great damage to the Izu Peninsula. Earthquake off the coast of Izu Oshima.
