He is said to be the son of Unkei's sixth son, Unsuke. He followed the main line of the Kei school and is known as the Great Buddhist Sculptor of Kofuku-ji Temple in Nanto. He was active mainly in Nara from the time of Showa (1312-17). His posthumous works include the Acala Triad at Joruri-ji Temple in Kyoto and the statues of Jikokuten and Komokuten at Eiko-ji Temple in Oita.
