In Greek mythology, Athena is a female deification of the madness sent by the gods to humans, causing them to lose their minds. At one point, she even drove Zeus crazy, forcing him to take an oath that would cause Hercules to become Eurystheus' vassal and perform difficult feats. In anger, Zeus cast her out of heaven and forbade her from ever returning to the realm of the gods. As a result, Athena is said to be constantly among humans, forcing them to commit foolish acts that would cause them suffering and destruction.
