A black slate from the Triassic Period found on the coast near Ogatsu Town , Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. It is widely used for making roof tiles, paving stones, and shingles. 〘名〙 宮城県石巻市雄勝(おがつ)町付近の海岸に産する三畳紀の黒色粘板岩。屋根瓦、敷石、すずりなどに加工されて広く用いられる。玄昌石。おかちいし。
