Beruta

...It has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and its name is said to come from the Hebrew word for "well." During the Phoenician period, it was known as the port of Beruta, and continued to prosper even after the fall of Byblos. Its history is unknown for the next 1,000 years, but it entered a new era as part of the Roman Empire.
