Ogachi Castle - Okachinoki

Japanese: 雄勝城 - おかちのき

An ancient castle fortress that is said to have been located in Omonogawa-cho, Yokote City, Akita Prefecture (then Ogachi County). It is said to have been built by Mutsu no Kami Fujiwara Asakari in 759 (Tenpyo Hou 3) during the Nara period. The only ancient castle fortress that has been excavated in the Omonogawa River basin is Hotta no Saku (Daisen City), and the existence of Ogachi Castle has not been confirmed, and excavation surveys are continuing, led by the Yokote City Board of Education. There is a theory that Hotta no Saku is Ogachi Castle, but there is a strong opinion that according to dating, Hotta no Saku is a different castle fortress, and that Ogachi Castle was later incorporated into Hotta no Saku. There are various theories. ◇It is also called "Ogachijo".

秋田県横手市雄物川町（当時の雄勝郡）にあったとされている古代の城柵。奈良時代の759年（天平宝宇3）、陸奥守の藤原朝狩(あさかり)が造営したとされる。雄物川流域一帯では発掘された古代の城柵は払田柵(ほったのさく)（大仙市）のみで、雄勝城の存在は未確認で、横手市教育委員会を中心に発掘調査が続いている。払田柵が雄勝城とする説もあるが、年代測定によれば払田柵は雄勝城造営の記録よりも新しく別の城柵であるとする意見も根強く、雄勝城はのちに払田柵に包含されたのではないかという説など、諸説ある。◇「おがちじょう」ともいう。
