This is a temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism located in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. Its mountain name is Daiunzan. Hosokawa Katsumoto built the temple on the site of Tokudaiji, which was near Fujiwara no Saneyoshi's villa, and in 1450 he invited Giten Gensho and appointed his teacher Nippō Soshun as the founder.
