...It is not seen much these days. Keratitis caused by common bacteria and corneal ulcers are still common, but the causative bacteria have changed with the evolution of antibiotics, and corneal ulcers caused by gram-negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa are on the rise. As for viral diseases, corneal ulcers caused by herpes simplex virus are common.
