Yangzhou Painting Records (English)

Japanese: 揚州画舫録 - ようしゅうがぼうろく（英語表記）Yáng zhōu huà fǎng lù

A record of the prosperity of the city of Yangzhou (Jiangsu Province) in the late 18th century during the Qing Dynasty in China. 18 volumes. Written by Li Dou. The preface is from the 60th year of the Qianlong era (1795), and contains detailed accounts of the author's experiences during his 30 years living in Yangzhou. A huabo is a colorful and gorgeously decorated pleasure boat. Yangzhou is divided into 12 districts, and the temples, scenic places, customs, entertainment, and people associated with each are listed. It includes valuable historical materials on salt merchants, who flourished as the center of the salt industry at the time, and the scholars, literati, and artists who received their patronage. The final volume also includes a historical document on architecture called Gongduan Ying Zolu.

中国，清代18世紀末の揚州(江蘇省)の都市繁盛記。18巻。李斗の著。乾隆60年(1795)の序をもち，30年間揚州に住んだ著者の詳細な見聞をつづる。画舫とは多彩･華麗に仕たてた遊覧船のこと。揚州を12の区域に分け，それぞれに関係する寺院，名勝，風俗，娯楽，人物を列記する。当時塩業の中心地として栄えた揚州塩商や，その後援をうけた学者，文人，芸術家などの貴重な史料を含む。《工段営造録》という建築史料も末巻に加える。
