Crafts made from marine products. There are many different types, ranging from toys that are not considered crafts to items of high artistic value. The main types are shown in the table below. Shells such as those of the green oyster, abalone, conch shell, scallop, and clam are used for shells in shellcraft. Some processes, such as button manufacturing, are relatively mechanized, but most are handcrafted products. In recent years, shell crafts for souvenirs have been mass-produced and exported. Natural pearls are found naturally, though rarely, in pearl oysters such as the pearl oyster, abalone, and black oyster, and have long been prized as decorative items.

水産物を原料とする工芸品。種類は多岐にわたるが，工芸品とはいえない玩具程度のものから高度な芸術的価値のあるものまで千差万別である。おもなものを表に示す。貝細工にはヤコウガイ，アワビ，ホラガイ，ホタテガイ，ハマグリなどの貝殻が材料に用いられる。ボタン製造など比較的機械化されているものもあるが，手工業的製品が多い。近年はみやげ物用の貝細工が大量に製造され輸出もされている。天然真珠はアコヤガイ，アワビ，カラスガイなどに，まれではあるが自然にできるもので，昔から装飾品として珍重されてきた。
